Lyle's Black Treacle Syrup 454g

As described. Homemade dark brown sugar made!

It is Lyle's black treacle syrup, and using it I can make my grandmother's Northumbrian gingerbread cake recipe.

Gave my Christmas pudding and Christmas cakes the most marvelous color and taste!! I MUCH prefer this to molasses and will use it in place of molasses every time now!

Blacktreacle is hard to find here. I use a lot over the holidays for gingerbread, pies, cake, braised veg... I have already used a can!

Just made a ginger, date and treacle cake. Fantastic!

This has such a rich, unique taste and a luxurious quality and it’s a nice change from maple syrup.

I love using treacle in baked goods and it always brings memories of my Granny's Clooty Dumplin' great on toast too.

Excellent for my Cristmas cake

We love the product taste but the seem of the can started leaking after first use. We cleaned the pantry mess and put product in a canning jar. We did love the appearance of the can but my canning jar will work.

Can't make sticky toffee pudding for the holidays without it, so glad Verified sells it!

Basically molasses with slightly more “saltiness”

This tastes like some Supreme Molasses-and the can is awesome!!The lion and the bees, and the caption depicted on the can refers to Samsom in the 14th chapter of the Book of Judges. Samson slew a lion, (with his bare hands), and later returned to it and found a beehive in the carcass, full of honey. He then proposed a riddle to the wedding guests, which the caption partially states:Judges 14:14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

SO much better than molasses! I use it in Sticky Toffee Pudding and cookies.

Less heavy smell too. Great for special recipes, but really too expensive for regular baking. I may try it I baked beans though. I think it might be great for that.

Quality excellent. Taste is strong - and that’s what you want in a product that is most like molasses. It’s British, so spendy, but worth it. Do try Lyle’s Golden Syrup too - that stuff is habit forming! The can is an excellent container - make sure the lid is back on properly. Do not give the lovely can to small children.

Sticky toffee pudding

Severely dented and damaged can, but not leaking and not expired.

Exactly what I ordered tasted great used it for treacle fudge like Harry Potter.

Delivered messy, sticky, poorly packaged

Product showed up in a timely manner. However, the can was sticky with visible drips of treacle on it, leading me to believe the master package had a leaky unit in it and was not cleaned up properly. I’m monitoring the package, having cleaned it up, to be sure there isn’t an issue with the can and is leaking itself. Will get back to you if there’s that kind of issue.

This product was used in the place of original molasses. It is less bitter. It was used in a cake recipe that called for baking molasses. It's thicker than original molasses so I need to see how to adjust the recipe for that but it did correct the bitterness.

I am changing my review as the dried product was only on the outside, not from a leak within the tin itself. With a little scrubbing the tin was good as new. Can't beat this product for its deep, rich molasses quality.

Other than the package arriving damaged (sticky and leaking), the product itself is excellent.

I needed this for sticky toffee pudding and it worked great, good flavor, very thick, like it should be, pudding was fantastic. Store this in in a small plastic ziplock bag so if it oozes out it’s not a mess

I used this to make a Brown Ale. A little goes a long way. 3-6 ounces in 5 gallons is sufficient, possibly a little more for Old Ales and Porters.
