Bonds of London - Traditional British Sweet Shop Bags

Before pick and mix came in tubs, British sweets were weighed out of jars behind a counter. Bonds of London bags the same sweets: the ones an older British customer names instantly and an American customer has usually never seen.

In stock now: Pear Drops, Rhubarb and Custard, Mint Humbugs, Liquorice Allsorts, Cough Candy, Fruit Chews, Blue Razz Bon Bons, Clotted Cream Fudge and Chocolate Raisins.

Rhubarb and Custard is the one to start with, a sharp and creamy boiled sweet in two colours. Cough Candy is the one nobody expects to like. Buy a few bags for a sweet table or a hamper. Imported from the UK and shipped out of Massachusetts.

Buy Traditional British Sweets Online in the USA
These are the sweets a British sweet shop sold by the quarter pound, and most of them have no American equivalent at all. They are bought partly for the taste and heavily for the memory, which is why they end up in hampers and care packages.

Bag Sizes, Sweet Tables and Hampers
The bags are the modern version of a scoop from the jar, and they reseal. Several bags of different sweets is the usual order, either for a pick and mix table at a party or to build a hamper. Boiled sweets keep well; fudge is best eaten sooner.

FAQ

Q1: What are pear drops?
Hard boiled sweets in two colours with a strong pear flavour, one of the oldest British sweet shop lines.

Q2: What is cough candy?
A strong, aniseed and menthol boiled sweet. It is a sweet, not a medicine, despite the name.

Q3: What are mint humbugs?
Hard striped mint sweets with a chewy toffee centre, traditionally twisted at both ends.
