Horlicks Original Malted Drink 270g

The taste and smell reminds me of shredded wheat cereal. At first I was kind of not sure on this but then once I had a second cup I found it to be comforting and filling. I used oat milk as that is what I had on hand and I don't think it took away from the flavor. Have been enjoying as a snack.

Love it. Good tasting and a wonderful reminder of what I used to enjoy back in the day.

The malted milk powders and syrups available today are nowhere near as malty as they used to be. But this is okay if you use several spoonfuls. Also this brand has less sugar than most of the others.

I've always preferred a malt over a shake. This is the best malted milk powder. This is a very old, established brand, and will be appreciated by any other "old-school" lovers of a good old-fashioed malt!

When added to hot milk this makes a nice bedtime drink

UPDATE December 9, 2024:So, the other night I started watching "Call the Midwife" and to my delight the nurses rewarded themselves after a long hard day with mugs of 'Orlicks!I hadn't ordered any for awhile (kinda pricy for me) but it was obviously a holiday season sign from the universe.I'd just made a Sustainer Donation to my local NPR too.So, the mug, the hot milk and HORLICKS made for a pre holiday gift to myself!Cheers and a Happy Christmas (as the Brits say!)Only gave it 4 stars the first review.Nobody believes a 5 Star. I've loved this stuff since the70's when I had some while living in Europe. Happy to have found it.

I like malts. This is better than Carnation malted milk mix. I like that I can adjust the intensity of the malt to my taste.

Thanks to "Call the Midwife" I had to try this. I absolutely (Trixie's word, if you know, you know) like it and will be buying it again. I have found it to be soothing at night.

I love the flavor of malt. This is great in drinks and I mix it into vanilla ice cream. Good quality.

Classic ingredient for a malted milk. Nostalgic. This is the original. Takes me back to my youth and sitting at the soda fountain counter with a malt. Yummy!

Horlicks is a British thing. Tough to find in the U.S. They say it is good to help you sleep. Take it before you turn in. You either like it, or you don't know it exists. Give it a try via Verified. You won't find it anywhere else. It is better than Hot Chocolate, or any other late night beverage, before turning in. Its been around for over a hundred years.

Horlicks has been around for generations. Used to be sold in coffee shops where it was whipped up beautifully by machine and quite the rage in the U.K.However, if money is tight right now and you’ve kiddos to care for, it can do very well with hot water & just about a third of milk instead. I’ve even mixed it with a flat tablespoon of cocoa or chocolate if things had to be stretched until better times.Thus, flexibility tops my list of Horlicks’ many excellent features.One day i’ll be able to afford all milk all the time, but if you -on occasion- have had to make that heat/eat decision, this just might help you out too.May 2023 be better for everyone!

Never tried it before, but heard about in the show, Call the Midwife. So we were wondering what it tasted like. You can find just about anything on Verified!

Getting hard to find in the stores. Wonderful to drink in cold weather, especially before bed.

Good for the traditional flavor but not that much maltier than Ovaltine. For a real dollop of malty flavor I've switched to syrup.

We grew up on it, , mixed with hot milk this malted wheat and Barley drink was given to us at bedtime.I love it, in winter .although in other seasons the A/C keeps the house cool. I do not know what else to write . Thank you.

Good to help sleep

I love Horlcks. Great as a hot beverage with almond or dairy milk.

For those of you not paying attention to the size, 300g of Horlicks is slightly larger than a can of soda. This is my first time buying/trying it after watching several British shows. It stirs into hot milk easily and smells a bit bready (which makes sense due to the malted wheat and barley). The taste is hard to describe; it’s not super flavorful but maybe has a hint of bread crust flavor? And it is slightly sweet. Overall, I like it but this won’t be something everyone enjoys.

Was brought here by call the midwife, anyone else? Anyway its now a nightly ritual and it really does help me sleep better somehow.

I tried Horlicks after watching "Call the Midwife." It is different, has good taste, and has a unique flavor.

Very neat to find this is still made

My wife started binge watching Call the Midwife, and the characters are always drinking Horlicks, so I thought I'd surprise the wife by making her a cup. She didn't like it, but I do. It is not sweet, it's like drinking a cup of hot wheat cereal. I find that it is the perfect thing to relax before bed.

It makes me backed to the old days, nice feeling!
