Marmite/vegemite

Great question! While both Marmite and Vegemite are rich, savoury yeast extract spreads, they're made differently and have distinct tastes. Marmite, the original UK favourite, is known for its very strong, salty, and slightly bitter flavour. Vegemite, the Australian icon, is also salty and savoury but often described as having a more complex, slightly less intense, and more malty or chocolatey undertone. Think of them as cousins – both delivering a powerful punch of umami, but with their own unique personality. Many people have a strong preference for one over the other, so why not try both from our collection to discover your favourite?

You've heard right – they pack a flavour punch! The key is to start small, especially if you're a first-timer. The most popular way is on toast. Simply toast your bread, spread it with butter, and then add a *very thin* scraping of Marmite or Vegemite. The butter is crucial for balancing the intensity. You can also mix a little into stews, casseroles, or gravies for a rich, savoury boost, or even add a small amount to a sandwich. Remember, a little goes a long way!
